"The economy invests in every promising employee at an early stage and that without a question, and with no guarantee of success. Experts predict serious consequences for their own company to every company and every entrepreneur should they neglect potential upcomers.
Why do we in Germany assume, let it be in company of the residents of our country, in the company of experts in the area of elite sport, that the same applicable laws of the economy do not apply to our athletes and their prospects? Why shouldn’t that apply to this area, in which the absolute goal is exclusively the comparison on a world scale?
Every expert predicts the beginning of the end of true performance in the event of sub- optimal support or a complete lack of lasting support. The resulting damage from these consequences is often no longer "repairable".
The German Sports Lottery is a social lottery with the sole purpose to support and promote sports, top-class but also popular sports. Every athlete from our country worthy of support deserves to be given the same opportunities that our promising up comers in the economy have long been allowed to take for granted.
I am convinced that with funds from this sports lottery we will come a great deal closer to this goal, namely, to create important prerequisites for the professional development of athletes who are able to achieve top performance.
I believe in the goals of the German Sports Lottery. It's an investment in the future of sport.”
